I remember seeing ads and online posts for SoulCycle and thinking ‘I’m not coordinated enough for that.’ Boy – was I very wrong.
I was terrified walking into my first ride. My friend Alyssa had been attending classes for a while, and I told her when I came to visit, I wanted to try it out. I was worried I would be unable to keep up with the rest of the class, or I’d get too tired.
I walked into the studio and clipped into the bike…the music started and at first, I was really tired…but once I got the hang of it, I felt unstoppable. I can’t explain the feeling I get while on the bike, it’s exhausting, yet empowering.
I love how SoulCycle combines physical and spiritual wellness. While I’m also obsessed with Aerial Yoga (and I won’t be stopping that anytime soon), SoulCycle gives me an amazing cardio workout, and a lesson in spirituality. So much of what the instructors say resonate with me, and I feel like I make an even deeper connection with myself.
I am absolutely impressed with what my body can do. For someone who isn’t very athletic, I can keep up with the instructor for the most part, and I’m not afraid to try new things. In the past, I’d always stay in my safe zone. SoulCycle and Aerial Yoga are definitely physical breakthroughs for me.
Today was only my second ride, but I have a feeling this is the beginning of a long and beautiful journey with SoulCycle.
