It’s Not Just a Rock, it’s a Crystal!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve my friends! I hope this blog finds you all well! I always believe in listening to the cues the universe and life in general sends me. Today, I had a few different people text me about my newfound love of healing crystals. I was so happy that I was able to share the knowledge I have with them, that I felt called to write this post.

How I Got Started with Healing Crystals

It was December of 2016, and I had was ending off a really tough year in my life. Though I was ecstatic to have started a new job, the post traumatic effects of getting let go from my previous job on top of a very bad falling out with someone very close to me were building up. I felt sad and or anxious a good deal of the time. I remember being out shopping with my Goddaughter and we walked into East Meets West – this spiritual/new wave store that’s in a bunch of malls around the area. I had heard about the benefits of healing crystals before, but I wasn’t really sure what they did.

The girl at the store asked my needs – I said: protection and positivity. I ended up purchasing a Tiger Eye, Citrine, and a Black Tourmaline. From that moment on I was HOOKED.

A Learning Process

Let me make something absolutely clear – I do not claim to be an expert…I am still learning about crystals every day. I invite you to do your own research but use this blog post as a reminder that you are not alone, and everyone starts somewhere.

Many people ask me ‘How do you use your crystals?’ Real talk – I wear 3-4 in my bra daily (the smaller ones…Citrine, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Tiger Eye, Garnet, Unakite.) Some of my crystals are really rocky or oddly shaped…so obviously we leave those out #NoLopsidedBoobs. Some stay in my pillow and I sleep with them. The rest are in this CUTE glass jewelry box I just purchased.

Since a lot of negative or anxious energy is being channeled into these crystals, I am sure to cleanse them every full moon. This isn’t some crazy process. It’s literally running them under some water, or placing them back in the sachet of sage they came in. When done I like to spray them with my rosewater because I am #Basic.

Recently, I’ve started meditating with them. I will hold them in my hands and channel my energy into them. Different crystals have different purposes. For instance, my Green Calcite and Hematoid Quartz are great for manifesting. When I listen to a meditation that deals with manifesting, I will hold those crystals.

If I’ve had a bad day I will take the crystals in my hands, take a deep breath in, and exhale any negativity. The power is not only in the crystal, but also in letting go of things mentally.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a book called Crystal RX by Colleen McCannThis book goes even more into detail about how to use your crystals and which chakras they correspond with, which crystals pair well together, building an altar or using your crystals in formations, and so much more. This has helped me a great deal with my practice. Again, I am not an expert, so I recommend you pick up the above book or one similar to it to explore this topic.

Do They Really Work?

Here’s what I tell people. If you’re looking for an OMG I’M SO HAPPY AND RICH AND PAIN AND PROBLEM FREE one and done solution from crystals – look elsewhere. This is by no means a quick fix and meant to be used alone. Do I attribute some of my newfound clarity and positivity to crystals? Absolutely. However, I have partnered it with meditation, yoga, and GOOD OLD FASHIONED THERAPY. If you have having anxiety and depression, please seek treatment from a therapist first and foremost, and then supplement that with crystal healing.
